    In recent years, the weak euro exchange rate, low ECB interest rates, and low international fuel prices have all combined to improve Irish cost competitiveness. Harmonised Competitiveness Indicators (HCIs) provide meaningful and comparable measures of euro area countries' price and cost competitiveness, whilst taking account of exchange rate fluctuations. This Bulletin examines a number of HCI's to better understand Ireland's recent competitiveness performance.
